This is my favorite festival of the year.
To mark Africa Day 2012, a range of events are taking place throughout Dublin during the week 20th to 27th May. These include the flagship family festival in George’s Dock; Africa Week Athletics in Morton Stadium in Santry; seminars in Trinity College Dublin and the Royal Irish Academy; and a whole host of other activities.
At today’s launch of the flagship event, Minister Costello was joined by Eamon Gilmore; Lord Mayor of Dublin, Andrew Montague; the Kenyan Ambassador to Ireland, Her Excellency Ms. Catherine Muigai Mwangi; and Salome Mbugua, Director of AkiDwA, the African and migrant women’s network.
Africa Day is the annual commemoration on May 25 of the 1963 founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).
